From Walkin’ The Floor Over You to Waltz Across Texas - you knew you were listening to Ernest Tubb.
On the main street in Nashville, on Broadway, you could find Ernest Tubb’s Record Shop. If you couldn’t find your favorite country music at home, you were sure to find it there. You knew
country was king there. Settled among other historical Nashville stores. Near Little Roy Wiggins’ steel guitar shop I remember. Tootsie’s Orchid Lounge across the way.
One regret I’ll always have was not attending one of his Midnight Jamboree’s that he held in his record shop across the street from the Opry.
His band, The Texas Troubadors had some later country stars themselves such as Jack Greene, Cal Smith and on it goes. His son Justin Tubb was a country star, too.
